National Pro-Bono Celebration

Timeframe: Since 2009

Managed By: The ABA's Center for Pro Bono

For more information: http://www.probono.net/celebrateprobono/

The ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service created the National Pro Bono Celebration in order to increase awareness of the growing need for pro bono services across the nation during these difficult economic times. The national celebration is meant to provide an opportunity for legal services organizations across the country to take the next step in providing legal services to those living on the social margins. How to celebrate is up to each individual organization, however, the Pro Bono Committee provides numerous resources on its website to aid organizations in the planning of their celebrations. The hope of the committee is that each celebration will strive to meet certain goals including:

  1. Recruiting more pro bono volunteers and increasing legal services to poor and vulnerable people.
  2. Mobilizing community support for pro bono.
  3. Fostering collaborative relationships.
  4. Recognizing the pro bono efforts of America's lawyers.
